Start shopping to replace your SGLI
(Life insurance). This is crucial at this time, prior to any VA appointments, and before getting your rating.
Budget and assess financial readiness
Review TRICARE, TSP, and SBP basics
Start informal VA BDD claim prep
Obtain a new Life Insurance policy for yourself and family. Ask about what an IUL is.
Choose Skillbridge company.
Route Skillbridge request.
Make sure you have ID.me/DS logins and Login to TSP.
Start Skillbridge.
If you chose Military Retirement Solutions as your skillbridge, obtain your license.
During the next 180 days, you will need to use your remaining terminal leave, unless you plan to sell it back.
Start VA BDD claim!
Have all VA appts completed.
Verify all documents are Complete for your Retirement Paperwork. Double check with Admin.
Review TRICARE, TSP, and SBP basics
Again...ALL VA Claim appts should be completed!
Have your DD214 in hand! This is your golden ticket.
Begin your TSP rollover process with MRS Agent.
Register at your local VA with your DD214 in hand.
Obtain new ID Card once DEERS is updated.
Call TRICARE, choose which plan you would like to move to; SELECT or PRIME. Make sure you select a plan for Medical, Dental, and Vision.
Here’s what you need to do:
Book a call and plan out your ACTUAL retirement (age 65).
Book a call to talk about your TSP rollover.
Book a call to get protection and replace your SGLI for you and your family.
